Good evening, everyone. I wanted to update you on some very important news regarding our website.
First, a bit of a rant. For the past several months, we haven’t been doing a very good job of keeping up on the latest gaming news. This is largely my fault. Dylan wanted to keep writing blogs and reviews for the site, but our previous process relied heavily on myself keeping the formatting of the blogs in proper shape; and, if I must confess, I grew extremely lazy in that regard. There is no doubting that I’ve done our readers a great disservice in this manner. Though there can be no justifying my behavior, in my defense, I’ve been extremely busy with my real-world shenanigans. Over the past six months, I’ve secured a new job in my preferred industry, finished my Master’s program, and moved to a new home in upstate New York. Oh, and I got a dog, too. It’s been a very exciting time, but not one which has allowed me to keep up with my responsibilities to our readers.
For a while, I feared I would never have the time or motivation to keep this project moving forward. Now that everything is falling into place, I believe we are ready to unveil a new and improved GamerLexicon Entertainment–one with a much sharper focus and resolve.
What to Expect
You may recall the fact that we didn’t necessarily produce content on a regular basis. We tried our best, Dylan and I–it’s challenging to keep such an ambitious project going with just two guys who also work full-time jobs, have families, and other obligations in general. Once we’ve returned, we’d like to get things to the point where we’re producing content weekly, at the very least. Blogs might come every couple of days, and Dylan has expressed quite a bit of interest in our video channels. Unfortunately, my Internet connection is questionable at best, so streaming may not be an option for me. However, I would like to produce video content regularly, so we’ll figure something out for that.
Another aspect that we’d like to improve on is our website’s namesake; the Gamer’s Lexicon. For those who are unaware, a lexicon is the vocabulary used by a certain branch of expertise. As you’re well aware, gamers have a unique language all to themselves. We want to take a comical approach to this aspect of gaming, so you can look forward to us adding to the lexicon regularly. If you have any suggestions for topics, feel free to leave us a comment on this article.
When to Expect It
Umm… soon. Soonish.
Really, that’s the best we can do right now. We’re in the process of itemizing everything that needs to be done for the site, so we’ll have a game plan shortly. As for what we’re playing, I’ve been very busy with Pokémon Sun and Moon, as well as Final Fantasy XV. Hopefully we can get some good content posted soon, and trust us when we say that you’ll be the first to know.
Why We’re Doing It
Both Dylan and I are writers in our own regard. We went to school to study creative writing, and have since found very little actual time to practice our craft. Dylan wants to use this to jumpstart his own writing, and frankly, I could use the boost, too. After all, if you don’t write at least something every day, can you really call yourself a writer? We might not get paid to write stuff for GamerLexicon Entertainment, but it sure is fun as hell. Honestly, we just really love games, and we realized that one of the biggest reasons why this project stalled out so hard was that we tried to do too much, too fast, which led to a massive decrease in the content we could produce. An e-newsletter? A podcast? Sure! Sign me up! Yeah… right. We had no chance. It was just too much to go with right from the start. We want to focus and improve the quality of what we produce. Then, if our efforts yield results, we’ll expand and try to dig our roots a little deeper.
In Conclusion (or tl;dr)
Basically, this is what’s up:
- I’ve been a lazy shitbag.
- We’re cutting out the comics, movies, and TV aspects of our reviews–not that we had that much going for us there anyway.
- We’re going to focus on gaming.
- We’ll still have video channels, but streaming probably won’t happen.
- We’re adding a lexicon–a sort-of dictionary for gamers and gaming terms.
So… yeah. That’s what we have planned. We’re both very excited about this revamp project, so bear with us–we’ll be back in business soon. Happy gaming to you all. We thank you for your continued support, and we hope that in the near future we’ll continue to meet and exceed your expectations.
